The graduate degree in Developmental Psychology and Protection Processes provides theoretical, methodological and applicative training with reference to the broad and differentiated safeguarding and protection processes that characterise developmental trajectories from childhood to adolescence. The multiple factors that, in the various phases, contribute to orienting the outcomes of development towards typical or atypical paths are explored. Particular attention is paid to interaction processes, risk and traumatic conditions, resilience resources, educational and parenting models in primary and school relational contexts. The interdisciplinary approach of the training also makes it possible to understand and interpret development processes in the light of legal norms and sociological reference systems. The general objective of the graduate degree is, therefore, to provide an advanced knowledge of the contents of the basic psychological disciplines, integrating them with the theoretical and methodological knowledge and with the methods of intervention and evaluation of developmental psychology, educational psychology, cognitive psychology, psychological research methodology and related disciplines. More specifically, the graduate degree aims to promote, in an interdisciplinary perspective, both basic theoretical-applicative training on psychological, social and legal methods, techniques and tools that promote growth paths, and the advanced elaboration of intervention models in educational contexts and in the field of the protection of development processes, to identify both traumatic and traumatic factors. stress and educational failures as well as individual, family and social resources that promote psychological health, in order to implement preventive interventions of support, protection, guardianship and care.
The programme offers skills related to the areas of research, assessment and promotion of subjective resources, network intervention and understanding of interaction processes with reference to both consolidated and innovative theories and methodologies.
The training course includes in-depth study of theoretical models, research data, methodologies and procedures of analysis and intervention. It also includes activities aimed at the acquisition of operational skills and professional practices, as well as the refinement of thinking and re-elaboration, planning, monitoring and evaluation skills. More specifically, the programme promotes competences within two main areas (child and adolescent protection; school-educational) with the following specifications:
A. Child and Adolescence Protection Area
- Evaluation of typical and atypical developmental processes and trajectories at risk.
- Stress management in traumatic situations.
- Technical advice and psychological expertise.
- Design and implementation of network interventions in protection contexts.
- Coordination of services and communities for children and adolescents.
B. School-Educational Area
- Assessment and interventions in school difficulties.
- Psychological-educational counselling.
- Enhancement of social-cognitive skills.
- Planning and management of interventions in educational and school environments.
- Assessment of parenting and educational skills.
Finally, with reference to the function, the programme promotes the ability to design, evaluate and implement interventions for the promotion of resources, risk protection and psycho-legal protection in relational and educational contexts.
As part of the professional training activities planned for the graduate degree class in Psychology, 14 credits are acquired by carrying out a Practical Evaluative Internship (T.P.V.) carried out in operational contexts at qualified external bodies affiliated with the University
