Academic Structure

Faculties

The Faculties' primary task is to promote and organise teaching activities towards the award of Undergraduate degrees, Graduate degrees and Specialisation diplomas, as well as other teaching activities provided for by law, the Statute and the Regulations and, in compliance with the guidelines established by the Academic Senate, ensure the development and quality of research activities. To this end, it must liaise with the Departments and Institutes, taking into account the proposals put forward by the latter.

Faculty Deans

The Dean represents the Faculty, promotes and coordinates its activities, supervises its regular functioning and oversees the execution of the Faculty Board's decisions. In particular, he/she convenes and chairs the Faculty Council, supervises compliance with the law, the Statute and regulations, and ensures that the Faculty's educational activities are carried out in an orderly manner, with the collaboration of the Presidents of the Degree Councils, where they exist.

The serving Deans of Faculty are:

  • prof. Stefano Solimano - Faculty of Law
  • prof. Antonella Occhino - Faculty of Economics
  • prof. Andrea Canova - Faculty of Arts and Philosophy

Faculty Board

The Faculty Board is composed of full and associate professors, representatives of academic researchers, representatives of adjunct professors, and student representatives. The Faculty Board, among other things: prepares and approves proposals for the development of the Faculty; plans and organizes educational activities; plans research objectives and activities and validates the overall scientific output; formulates proposals regarding the activation of PhD programmes and contributes to the organisation and functioning of the same.

Degree, Diploma and Study Path Council

The Degree, Diploma and Study Path Councils are composed of full and associate professors in charge of teaching the relevant courses, representatives of university researchers and representatives of adjunct professors in charge of teaching the courses concerned, as well as student representatives. The Councils elect their presidents from among the full professors or, failing that, associate professors. The Councils exercise their powers to promote, organise and manage educational activities as provided for by the University's Statute and Educational Regulations or as delegated by the Faculty Board.
