Banking, Finance and Insurance Sciences

Dean: Prof. Giovanni Petrella

Promoting teaching and research as tools for the integral growth of the person and training professionals in the field of financial management: these are the educational objectives of the School of Banking, Finance and Insurance Sciences of Università Cattolica, which places graduates at the centre of the national financial community and enables them to access research topics at an international level and the operational practices developed by major financial institutions.

The aim of the School is to create and disseminate knowledge and skills in the banking, financial and insurance fields through a positioning of excellence in teaching, research and cultural debate at national and international level. This translates into training a professionalism required by the market with the multidisciplinary approach that has always characterized the School

The course of study offers solid training in the basic disciplines and specialist skills in the areas of economics of financial intermediaries and markets, insurance and pension companies, as well as statistical and actuarial sciences.
The multidisciplinary context of the University allows students to acquire knowledge, skills, experiences and relationships that favour the achievement of their development potential.

In order to strengthen the link with companies and supervisory authorities, the School has established the Faculty Board – World of Work. Composed of authoritative protagonists of the financial community (CEOs and HR Directors), the Board aims to: share with economic operators the strategic guidelines to be followed in the formulation of the didactic plans of the Degree Programmes, in order to maintain a training offer in line with the expectations of the professional world; improve the planning and management of the School's internship activities; identify new initiatives and fruitful ways of collaborating with the operational reality, to allow the constant improvement of the training process and the most favorable ways for students to enter the world of work. These new initiatives include the provision of Soft Skills and Digital Skills training pills, as well as the establishment of the School Internship Day and the Talents Project and the Women in Finance programme.

The School has activated an agreement with the Italian Association of Financial Analysts and Advisors (AIAF) that allows graduates in Economics of Markets and Financial Intermediaries to be admitted, free of charge for the first year and with a reduced fee for the following three years, as AIAF Ordinary Members. For the purposes of the CIIA® (Certified International Investment Analyst) International Diploma, this agreement will allow exemption from the Foundation exam and direct access to the Final exam, at a subsidized cost.

In addition, the graduate degree in Economics of Markets and Financial Intermediaries has been accredited by the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA); this implies that the degree programme falls within the scope of the affiliation program recognized to universities that offer courses of study that meet certain quality requirements with reference to the courses taught in the investment management area. In connection with its international diploma, CFA will provide seven scholarships that will allow you to be admitted to the CFA Program free of charge and benefit from a reduction in exam registration fees.

There are numerous international partnerships that allow students to access profiles that allow them to obtain two degrees: London School of Economics, UNC Charlotte, Fordham University, Bayes Business School, University of Groningen, Bangor University, Bangor Charlotte.

I believe that the contemporary university, while it has the duty to collaborate for the progress of the sciences and to follow the methodology required by each of them, must never put in second place what requires the recognition of its primacy, that is, man, the human person, the world of spirituality
