THE FACULTY IN BRESCIA

Galileo said that "the universe is written in mathematical language". It is a wonderful mystery that makes mathematics the ideal tool for understanding the world

Maurizio Paolini, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences

Founded in 1971 with the aim of training teachers, today the Faculty can offer its students a much broader perspective and the opportunity to gain important study and research experience in the best European and non-European universities.

The increasingly strong connection with the world of work makes it a path full of stimuli, suitable for those who not only love numbers and theorems, but also want to learn - like Niccolò Tartaglia, the famous mathematician from Brescia in the 1500s - to use them as a cognitive tool of the reality that surrounds them.

Physics and Mathematics, in addition to contributing to man's cultural heritage since ancient times, have had in the last century, and are still having, an impressive increase in applications in everyday life, for example in medical-biological and economic ones, or environmental protection, thanks also to the unprecedented progress of Computer Science. The understanding of these disciplines is today not only a key to understanding reality, but it is essential for those who want a solid and lasting wealth of knowledge and above all a mindset suitable for rationalizing problems and with the skills necessary to solve them.

I believe that the contemporary university, while it has the duty to collaborate for the advancement of the sciences and to follow the methodology required by each of them, must never put in second place what requires the recognition of its primacy, that is, man, the human person, the world of spirituality

Father Agostino Gemelli, Founder of Università Cattolica
