Alias Career

Alias Career

In order to make Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore an increasingly inclusive community and in compliance with the indications of the Gender Equality Plan, provisions have been issued for the activation and management of alias careers.

The rules, approved by the Academic Senate and issued by Rector's Decree, allow students who have embarked on a gender transition path to use a "chosen name" at every step of their university career: from the conduct of exams to the discussion of the degree thesis and the proclamation.

In this way, those who request it will be able to use the alias registry within the University even before the pronouncement by the competent judicial authority on the new gender attribution, as provided for by law no. 164 of 14 April 1982.

The provisions are effective from the signing of the deed of commitment that the applicants sign with Università Cattolica until the interruption of their academic career.

During this same period, the provisions may cease if the person chooses to interrupt the path undertaken.

In any event, since they are temporary, they shall apply until the Court of First Instance has given a judgment rectifying such provisions.

The guidelines published here define the purpose and object of the rules, the persons to whom they are addressed, their assumptions and effects, as well as their effectiveness towards third parties (e.g. in the case of internships, study abroad courses, scholarship applications).

The guidelines also set out the obligations on the part of the student and the consequences of breaches of these commitments.
