English test

An adequate level of English language proficiency is required for admission to certain undergraduate or graduate degree programmes or to include courses taught in English in your study plan, as stated in the appropriate admission procedures.
Interested candidates must hold one of the certifications indicated in the admission procedures, bearing in mind that only those obtained after 1 January 2023 will be taken into account.
In the absence of a certification, it is necessary to take an English language assessment test (English Test), administered online, by the University Language Service of Università Cattolica.
The test, which is divided into four sections (Reading, Grammar, Vocabulary and Listening), lasts a maximum of 60 minutes and assesses grammar, vocabulary and written and oral comprehension skills.

In order to enrol candidates must:

  • register on the Enrolment Portal ;
  • click on the ENGLISH TEST tab;
  • indicate the programme they wish to enrol in from among those that can be selected (if the programme of interest isn’t present in the list, candidates mustn’t take the English test);
  • click on the 'REGISTER' button;
  • select date and time from the available slots;
  • click on the “SAVE” button;
  • press the PAY button which will take you to the relevant screen for payment of the participation fee. From this moment, it will no longer be possible to change the date nor the time of registration for the English Test;
  • pay the participation fee of €50 via Pago PA.

PLEASE NOTE: payment must be made before the test registration deadline; otherwise, it will not be possible to take the English test on the selected date and time and candidates will be considered absent.
Any requests of refund will only be considered if made within the registration deadline on the chosen date.
A few days before the test, candidates will receive precise instructions by e-mail on how to take the test.

Candidates with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs) are required, by the registration deadline for the selected test, to send an email to the Services for Inclusion of the relevant campus including:

  1. the disability report or certificate relating to the SLD in a unique pdf file;
  2. the "Request form for compensatory measures and authorisation to process data for candidates with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs)" downloadable here and also available in the "Admissions and enrolment" section of the programme page.

Results will be published in the "List of Tests" section of the Enrolment Portal within the week in which the English test was taken: upon publication of the results, registered candidates receive appropriate communication.

The result obtained is not binding for admission to only the programme selected during the English Test enrolment phase, but it is valid for enrolment in all programmes where an English level equal to or lower than the one obtained is requested as an entry requirement.

If the test is not passed with an adequate level, or in case the candidate is absent, it is possible to re-enrol by repeating the above procedure.

Note: We encourage all applicants to consult the admission procedures for the programme they are interested in and to check that the dates available for taking the English Test are compatible with the application deadline.
