Learning objectives

The degree programme in Sustainability aims to develop the following competences, knowledge and skills:

  1. Specialised knowledge of governance, management and organisation processes in companies with a view to sustainability;
  2. The ability to grasp, in the international competitive context and in the regulatory context of reference, the need for the explicit adoption of sustainability practices and the integration of business processes with advanced circular economy models;
  3. The ability to equip oneself with technical tools for measuring business performance and decision-making processes, also based on advanced data analysis;
  4. Strengthening the ability to report on corporate performance from a sustainability perspective, including the ability to be certified from an ESG perspective;
  5. The ability to communicate, work in a team, learn, take initiative and leadership, with particular reference to the innovation of companies towards the culture of sustainability;
  6. The fluent use, in written and oral form, of two languages of the European Union, with particular reference to the disciplinary vocabulary.

The Sustainability profile of the Graduate Degree in Business Management therefore integrates the knowledge and skills typical of business management, with an in-depth study of all the disciplines relating to all business functions and those economic and legal disciplines that allow to adequately describe the system within which the company operates. This objective is achieved with specific attention to:

  • the issues of sustainability reporting and value creation in sustainable companies and supply chains
  • ESG rating
  • marketing for sustainability
  • circular economy models
  • Issues of business ethics
  • the law of sustainability.

The programme includes a compulsory curricular internship aimed at strengthening skills with concrete business experience and starting the path to entry into the job market.

The Sustainability Profile will make it possible to model students' skills on the specific skills required by companies in terms of sustainability, in particular with reference to:

  • the company's ability to model its strategy to the opportunities for growth and development, consisting of the adoption of production techniques consistent with the needs of the circular economy, organisational and business models consistent with the ESG (Environment-Social-Governance) approach;
  • the company's ability to measure its performance including the assessment of ESG factors;
  • the company's ability to carry out adequate ESG reporting to meet the needs of the plurality of stakeholders in this direction;
  • the company's ability to interact with the financial market by exploiting the opportunities provided by finance for sustainable development;
  • the company's ability to interact with the public sector and with the system of public rules, policies and incentives related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The degree programme will include training tools that aim to explicitly consider the ethical implications of the company's ESG orientation, as well as explicit tools to assess the social impact of the company's activity.

The profile includes, as a fundamental training moment, a mandatory company internship that allows you to:

  • expand the wealth of skills provided by the university education profile with professional knowledge that can only be acquired in the workplace;
  • facilitate students' professional choices through direct experience in the world of work.
