Experiences abroad

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore promotes the international experience of its students through a network of collaborations and agreements with foreign universities and numerous study programmes (Erasmus, Overseas, ISEP, Study Abroad, IMACS, LaTE Language Training Experience, International internships, International Volunteering, Summer programs, etc.).

Students interested in carrying out a period of university study abroad have as references:

  • the lecturer of the International Mobility Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, contact person for the programme of study in which the student is enrolled, to define the study programme and validate the approval document of the exams that the student will take abroad and which will subsequently be recognised for the purposes of graduation at UCSC;
  • a Faculty tutor to support international mobility, in the person of dott.sa Miriam Rita Tessera (miriamrita.tessera@unicatt.it), who supports the student in the role of orientation and intermediation with the teaching staff for the academic aspects of international mobility;
  • the UCSC International office, for the organisational aspects relating to the period of study abroad (info.outbound@unicatt.it).

The International Mobility Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy is composed of the following professors in charge of the Degree Programmes:

Undergraduate Degrees

Graduate Degrees

The professors in charge carry out orientation activities in the choice of university abroad and evaluate the Program Plan, containing the exams that the student will take abroad and which will subsequently be recognized for the purpose of graduation at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

All exams to be taken abroad must be agreed with the referring professors before departure and in any case it is not possible to request the inclusion in the study plan, instead of optional exams, of exams taken abroad and not agreed in advance with the referring professors.

The UCSC International office takes care of agreements with universities abroad and assists students in organising their study period abroad.

Upon returning to Italy, the student must submit documents attesting to the exams taken abroad via the Program Plan platform.

The professors, appointed by the Faculty for the recognition of foreign exams, will convert the evaluation obtained in the exams abroad into thirtieths, on the basis of the official conversion tables published on the Faculty's website. Finally, the Faculty Council approves these conversions and assigns the corresponding ECTS to the student.

Specific indications for students of the Graduate Programme in Business, Media and Organizational Communication

  1. Students are required to fill out the Program Plan prior to departure, which can be accessed from their iCatt page.
  2. The entity in charge of approving the Program Plan is the Business, Media and Organizational Communication Mobility Commission. No other party (including the professors in charge of individual courses) is entitled to approve the proposals for equivalence.
  3. A general and necessary condition for the validation of an exam is that the corresponding courses produce a final evaluation.
  4. Validation will only be carried out for graduate-level exams: preparatory or introductory courses will not be validated.
  5. For the purpose of validating exams The number of hours of lectures does NOT count; only ECTS or equivalent count.

Exams with a different number of ECTS from that of the exam in the study plan may also be considered, with a maximum deviation (in deficiency or excess) of 2 ECTS. The evaluation of equivalence will be at the sole discretion of the Mobility Commission and will take into account, in addition to the criteria already stated, the specific activities provided for by the course.

If the exam abroad has a program and a lower number of ECTS than those of the UCSC exam, it will also be possible to request to count two exams taken abroad (of a similar subject) for a single exam of one's study plan.

6.   Practical-applicative courses, related to the themes and training objectives of CIMO, may be validated as seminars.

All students of the Faculty are given the opportunity to take exams abroad that are supernumerary to their study plan, which can then be included in the Program Plan even if they have no equivalent at Università Cattolica, subject to the approval of the Commission for International Mobility.
