Questions and answers about the degree programme

What qualification is acquired upon graduation?
A graduate degree is obtained, similar to the other graduate degree programmes in the LM-77 class (Economics and Business Sciences) issued by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

Does the use of blended training methodology affect the certification of the qualification?
The use of the blended training methodology does not affect the certification of the qualification. In terms of the degree acquired, there is no difference between a degree obtained with traditional methodology and one obtained with blended methodology.

What type of students is the blended graduate degree programme in Business Administration and Consultancy aimed at?
The degree programme is primarily designed for student-workers who, thanks to blended teaching,  wish to combine the university path of development of knowledge, skills and competences with the experience and responsibilities of work.

Which study profiles does the educational offer include and which career opportunities do they correspond to?
There are three study profiles: managerial, relational and professional. Information about study plans and career opportunities is published in the Faculty Guide, available on the University website (the link is available both on the Faculty of Economics page and on the degree programme page). The professional profile, in agreement with the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Milan, provides for the carrying out of a professional internship.

What are the entry requirements for the degree programme?
The requirements for admission to the Graduate Degree Programme in Business Administration and Consultancy are published in the document containing the admission rules, available on the University website (the link is available on the degree programme page). The admission requirements are differentiated respectively for: (i) managerial and relational profiles; (ii) the professional profile.

How to get answers to specific questions related to the choice and access to the degree programme?
The Admission Rules indicate the access requirements, in case of doubts in this regard you can contact the toll-free number 800 209 902 or send a request through the personal iCatt page, if UC students, or to the InfoForm service, if non-UC students (the link is available on the Contacts page of the site).

What does it mean to adopt a blended training methodology?
It means benefiting from a structured learning process, based  on a balanced mix of face-to-face and online activities. The proposed activities enhance reflexivity and learning thanks to a wide use of exercises, case studies and application simulations, to be carried out both individually and through group work.

Are there specific figures in the degree programme to support the student?
Yes. The degree programme includes the presence of e-tutors and e-teachers. The e-tutors, experts in e-moderation, act as a transversal function of guidance, support in the use of online tools and support the socialization of students at a distance. The e-teachers, experts in the subject area, are the main points of reference for students regarding the teaching of the various courses and accompany them in carrying out online activities. In any case, synchronous online teaching activities always require the presence of the professors in charge of the individual courses.

Which learning platform is used to manage the blended training process?
We are referring to Blackboard, a platform dedicated to e-learning, which in this blended programme is used pervasively in its various functions not only as a repository of materials (video-lessons, content database, etc.), but also as an easy structured context for carrying out self-assessment processes, for experimenting with guided application activities and for participating in reflexivity processes inherent in the contents of the various courses.

Are there any tools to encourage participation in online activities and consultation of materials even on the move?
It is possible to use the contents and functions available in the Blackbaord online platform using any device connected to the Internet, even on the move. However, for synchronous webinar and feedback activities, it is essential to connect from an appropriate logistical setting, in order to be able to interact effectively and correctly with the teacher and other students. In these cases, it is required that the connection takes place from a location that guarantees a stable audio-video connection free of external disturbances.

What do face-to-face activities consist of?
Face-to-face activities (equivalent to 50% of the teaching provided for each course) consist of lessons aimed at framing the tools and methodologies being discussed, as well as deepening and focusing on the essential contents with a problem-solving orientation, through the discussion and review of the activities carried out online together with teachers and company witnesses.

When are face-to-face classes scheduled?
Face-to-face lessons are scheduled on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, according to each student's personalized study plan. The choice of this calendar makes the work activity compatible with that of active attendance of study courses.

What are the online activities that involve the intervention of teachers?
The online activities involving teachers (equivalent to a total of 50% of the teaching provided for each course) consist of asynchronous video-lessons (always available on the platform, with the possibility of viewing them on the days and times that are most appropriate for the student) and synchronous exercise and evaluation webinars (scheduled in late afternoon and evening, with the remote presence of teachers and e-teachers). In addition, live feedback sessions are scheduled (always in the late afternoon and evening) in which teachers clarify and deepen some issues, also at the request of students. Webinars and Feedback are also recorded to allow subsequent asynchronous use.

How can students interact with lecturers during webinars and feedbacks?
There are various possibilities for the student to interact with the teachers during webinars and live feedback: live chat and audio and video interventions with the possibility of sharing materials such as slides and documents.

Are there any online activities without the presence of teachers?
In order to guarantee the quality and effectiveness of the learning process, students are encouraged to take advantage of the potential offered by the Blackboard e-learning platform even without the presence of teachers. Examples of online activities carried out independently by students are: reading materials available in a content database; carrying out structured individual and group assignments (e.g. exercises, case studies, simulations); carrying out self-assessment activities; participation in discussion forums; Coaching and tutoring activities made possible by a continuous comparison with tutor roles.

When can I enjoy online activities?
Asynchronous activities (such as video lessons, reading materials, carrying out structured assignments and self-assessment activities, participating in discussion forums) can be used on the days and times that are most appropriate, at the student's choice. Synchronous activities (such as exercise and evaluation webinars) are scheduled at times compatible with the performance of students' work activities, i.e. late afternoon-evening. Webinars and live feedback are also recorded to allow subsequent asynchronous use.

Is attendance at face-to-face and online activities compulsory?
There are no forms of ascertainment of a minimum threshold of attendance for activities in synchronous mode, either in presence or online. However, attendance is highly recommended, in order to support profitable and effective learning.

Where can I view the calendar of face-to-face lessons and online activities?
The calendar of face-to-face lectures and online activities is published, with reference to each course, on the website of the Faculty of Economics. The course pages can be searched using the appropriate link published both on the home page of the Faculty of Economics and on the home page of the degree programme.

How is learning assessment carried out?
Assessment of learning takes place at three levels: knowledge, skills and competences. Students can choose between two possible assessment methods. The ongoing progressive assessment includes face-to-face assessment tests (written and/or oral) that take place in the official exam sessions in addition to assignments (individual and/or group) proposed in a structured way during participation in the teaching activities delivered in presence and online. The summative assessment method takes place exclusively with face-to-face tests (written and/or oral) given in the official exam sessions on the entire study program. For each course, an analytical syllabus is available on the Blackboard platform detailing how  the assessment tests are carried out.

What are the benefits of ongoing progressive assessment?
Students who use the ongoing assessment method can have frequent and constant evaluation feedback, also expressed in qualitative form, thanks to which they can improve their learning path in a timely and targeted manner.

When do the exam sessions take place?
Exam sessions (given in person and in written and/or oral form) are scheduled in the sessions provided by the Faculty of Economics (January-February; June-July; September) at times compatible with the performance of students' work activities (Friday afternoon and Saturday full day).

How are the provision of any restricted or supernumerary courses that may be automatically assigned at the time of admission carried out?
Since these are undergraduate degree courses, they are taught in the traditional way in presence, at the times scheduled for the three-year degree (afternoon-evening programme). It should be noted  that registration for constrained/supernumerary exams does not require attendance at classes.

How are the students' office hours structured?
In addition to the face-to-face office hours, published on the professors' personal pages on the Faculty of Economics website, it is possible to schedule synchronous online office hours via the platform, at the specific request of students.
