Introduction

The Career Compass program accompanies MScM students in defining their career plan and facilitating their entry into the professional world.
Through the Career Compass students will be able to learn more about themselves, develop their personal and professional project, define their job search strategy and get prepared for the best possible start of their career.

Career development

Every year, all MScM students can access to a series of workshops and career events and learn how to:

  • prepare their CV, LinkedIn profile and cover letter in an impactful manner;
  • develop their network efficiently;
  • be proactive in job search;
  • manage different types of job interviews and salary negotiations;
  • build their personal branding 

 

For academic year 2021/2022 the career compass will include the following initiatives:

OCTOBER 2021

INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT SERVICES
The event will introduce you to all services offered by UCSC related to placement and career development.
WRITING EFFECTIVE CV AND COVER LETTER
The event will provide suggestions on hot write a CV and a cover letter to get the attention of an employer and leverage your skills and competences.

JANUARY 2022

CAREER ADVISORY SERVICE
The event is aimed at letting you have a preliminary meeting with career advisors, clarify benefits and expectation from the service and method to start a relationship with career advisors.
MOCK GROUP INTERVIEWS
You will have the chance to practice your skills with a simulation of group interviews with a corporate partner. This will provide you the chance to learn experience of dynamics and processes of interviews to enhance your effectiveness in future job placement.
This event is dedicated to students of the 2nd year.

FEBRUARY 2022

TOOLS AND TIPS FOR ACTIVE JOB SEARCH
The event will provide tools and tips to start your job search introducing Jobiri (your digital career advisor) and all services of UCSC

APRIL 2022

MANAGE YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING
The event will help you to define a strategy of personal branding and identify actions to develop a personal brand in line with your career expectations.

The program should be subject to change of dates due the availability of corporate partners and professionals involved in the events. Further communication will detail the dates and agenda of single events

 

Career counselling

A dedicated career counselling service is provided to MScM students on an ongoing basis to help them define their career goals and prepare for the recruitment processes. Under the guidance of a team of  career advisors (experienced  managers with various backgrounds), students can individually:
 
  • plan their career and personal development;
  • develop specific, tailored professional competences;
  • gain a thorough understanding of the current job market;
  • discuss about their first steps, have career conversations, assess their CV, and prepare for interviews to maximize their chances of success;
  • receive tailored advice on how to achieve their career goals.

  • Andrea Cencini - andrea.cencini007@gmail.com
    Experienced director with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and retail industry. Strong professional skilled in Business Process, Integration, Business Analysis, Software Development, and Strategy.
  • Paolo Enrico Colombo - paolo.enrico.colombo@gmail.com
    Starting his career as Software Engineer, he acquired a Master degree in Electronic Engineering from the Milan Polytechnic Institute. Then he joined TXT Group in 1984 and he participated to the spin-offed the Software Division to create TXT e-solutions and in 2000 he completed the IPO of the company. During a long-term career, he started several Businesses (in Aerospace, Banks, Telco, High tech). Currently, He is Partner of a medium-sized company, focused on Software Quality Assurance products and services.
  • Andrea Corbella - andrea_corbella@fastwebnet.it
    After some years of work in IBM, from 1984 he started many different collaborations in the financial world. At the beginning with responsibility in the organization and human resources area (Bank of America and Italy, Banca Popolare di Milano Group) and later as a member of the Management Committee (Comit, Banca Intesa), General Manager (CED Borsa, Central Institute of the Italian Popular Banks) and CEO of a payment company. During the last ten years he managed international projects as consultant in the role of Deputy Secretary of the International Confederation of the Popular Banks.
  • Annalisa Erba - annalisa.erba@gmail.com
    After having founded and managed a software company since 1985, from 1995 to 2012 Annalisa Erba was Managing Vice President with Gartner, responsible for benchmarking, digital transformation, and strategic consulting projects with large international clients. After that she worked as an advisor on IT managed services in finance and as a lecturer and coach in post-graduate training programs at the Politecnico di Milano.
  • Marco Mignacco - marco.mignacco57@gmail.com
    Experienced executive, served as CEO for about 7 years, first in a start-up company (Selesoft), later in Selesta Ingegneria. Long experience as general manager in ITC. Strong decision making and leadership skill. Ability to manage, reorganize and innovate complex, multi-disciplinary and challenging environments. Strong business skills: engineering, project management, R&D, sales and marketing.

Students will access to the service on a voluntary basis, but we kindly suggest taking advantage of the opportunity to have an open discussion with one of the career advisors.
