The Sustainable Viticulture and Oenology profile

The Sustainable Viticulture and Oenology profile captures the current needs of the wine sector, which is by definition "international". Italy, world leader together with France, today exports more than 50% of the wine it produces. Therefore, interaction with stakeholders around the world has become a must.

Given the international approach of our programme, lectures are taught entirely in English and, for each academic year, we will have an external lecturer who will teach the course of Topics in Oenology.

What makes the degree programme in Sustainable Viticulture and Oenology really competitive and educational is the complementarity between classroom lessons and practical activities carried out outside.

Our programme, in fact, benefits from excellent facilities, easily accessible from the campus, such as:

  • an experimental cellar used for the training of students, where they have the opportunity to produce "their" wine
  • A new sensory analysis laboratory
  • A small but precious experimental vineyard.
Profile Study Plan

Sustainable Viticulture and Oenology

The degree programme aims at deepening knowledge of students having some background in Viticulture & Oenology in terms of new technologies and practices that are breaking into the Wine Value Chain to increase integral sustainability.

Biotechnologies, precision approaches, adaptation to climate change, biodiversity, care for vineyard, soil, health and conservation are only some of the major topics that the new curriculum will cover.

The course is delivered entirely in English to allow maximum internationalisation and cultural exchanges.

Final dissertation will be mandatorily experimental, and each graduating studying will join one the research groups at the Faculty and be assigned to a specific project. Many links existing with different stakeholders (cooperatives, single estates, wineries, wine companies, etc.) will also foster extra-curriculum internships as well as final employment.
