The degree in Linguistic Sciences provides some characteristics that, while mostly absent in the other degrees in languages in Italy, constitute its backbone and modernity.

The degree programme allows you to:

  • acquire solid competence in at least two European languages (and, for certain curricula, one European and one non-European language) at the level of written language (active and passive written ability), oral (active and passive oral ability) and media;
  • acquire the first skills in the specialty languages, related to the different subject areas of the curricula in which the degree programme is divided;
  • acquire specific professional skills in the various subject areas that characterise the individual curricula (economics, mass media communication and international relations);
  • possess an in-depth scientific competence in the fields of theoretical linguistics (such as general linguistics, which is the cultural basis of all language learning), historical linguistics (glottologies, philologies, histories of different languages) and applied linguistics (teaching of foreign languages, expressive techniques, use of computer tools in the linguistic field);
  • achieve a literary education that is diversified according to the curricula, in terms of historical knowledge and the ability to read and critically elaborate texts;
  • to achieve, in addition to literary knowledge, a historical-cultural competence in the economic, legal and political fields related to the languages of specialization.

The degree programme in Linguistic Sciences therefore has a fundamental linguistic core on which diversified paths are then grafted, aimed at responding to the demand for professional figures with a linguistic profile.
