Supporting students in the Covid-19 health emergency

Our University has built its first 100 years of history in the belief that every student is an essential resource for the whole of society.

In the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, full of uncertainties that have become impediments for some, we have not allowed the difficulties of everyday life to threaten the future of those who believe in study as a personal and social heritage. Our University has been called, once again, to a responsibility inspired by our past, designed for the present and projected into the future.

We are convinced that the contribution of universities will be decisive in recovering from this crisis , as they are by their nature poles of attraction for young people capable of nurturing the society, culture and economy of today and tomorrow with their intelligence and enthusiasm

Prof. Franco Anelli, Rector of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

The Fund, funded with an initial endowment from the University, has been opened to donations from individuals, organizations or companies. A part of the contributions deriving from the 5xmille also contributed to the increase in the Fund.

Many employees, professors and alumni responded to the request to support students in difficulty and with a simple and generous gesture concretely supported students and their families in dealing with the heavy economic fallout of the epidemic and in helping to prevent the risks of dispersion of precious human capital. They have thus supported university education to restart the country by focusing on the talent and skills of young people.

1,237 students were able to continue their studies, a facilitation for the payment of university fees, made possible by the generosity of numerous donors and an extraordinary contribution made available by the University, for a total of 1,332,999 Euros.

Of these, €124,410.32 came from private donations, and €1,208,588.68 from the University's own funds.

These are students from all campuses and faculties, who benefited from support in the academic year 2020/21.
