activates, for the academic year 2024/25 the 6th edition of the Second Level University Master Course in Laser Dentistry.

The international Specialising Master has a duration of one academic year for a total of 60 credits, corresponding to 1500 hours

The Master's programme aims to provide trainees with an innovative programme that enhances the knowledge and skills to safely apply laser technology in clinical practice, integrating the latest advances in technology and research with the most advanced operative protocols in laser dentistry. High-quality science and academic research and clinical protocols are presented by world-class lecturers.

The University Master's Course in "Laser Dentistry" envisages a final examination consisting of: a presentation of a final thesis of a clinical nature relevant to the subject of the Course.
Those who have completed the envisaged training course and passed the relative assessment tests (with a grade expressed in thirtieths) will be awarded a second-level Specialising Master Programme in "Laser Dentistry" by the Catholic University.

The Second Level Specialising Master Programme is open to those who possess:

- a master's or specialist degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (Italian University class LM-46 or class 52/S) or an old-school degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics. A licence to practise as a dentist is also required and must be held at the time of enrolment;

- an old-school degree in Medicine and Surgery with enrolment in the Dentists' Register or with an endorsement for Dentistry.

In the case of degree awarded abroad  the qualification with the grade obtained must be accompanied by the Statement of Comparability by the Cimea Service.  The Master’s Degree obtained must be a level 7 degree in the European Qualification Framework.

Please note that the CIMEA service will be closed from the 29th of July 2024 to the 3rd of September 2024. The service will re-start on the 4th of September 2024. Please note that the days of closure will not be counted as part of the time guaranteed for release of statements. 

Note

  • In the case of foreign students: the qualification with the grade obtained must be accompanied by an official translation in Italian, legalised and accompanied by a "declaration of value" issued by the competent Italian Embassy or Consulate abroad.
    In the case of students from non-European countries, the qualification will be submitted to the judgement of the Second Level Specialising Master Programme Board for the purposes of equivalence aimed exclusively at the university master's degree.  
    Possession of a licence to practise as a dentist in Italy or recognition of the qualification by the Ministry of Health is only required in the case of professionalising activities; for face-to-face activities it is not a prerequisite.
  • The number of students admitted to the University Master's Course is set at a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20.
  • To be admitted to the University Master's Course, candidates must submit their CVs and pass a test consisting of multiple-choice quizzes.
    Candidates are required to have attended the courses organised by ALD, BAIRD, LA&HA, IAID and/or the advanced training course entitled "Advanced Proficiency Diode Laser" or of an equivalent level, at their respective sites, whose scientific programmes are considered preparatory to the The Second Level Specialising Master Programme course in question.

The practical activity will take place through workshops/workshops/internships at:

Accredited dental clinics (Rome);Laser and Health Academy (Lubiana, SLO);
Academy of Laser Dentistry (Coral Springs, FL - USA);
British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry (Leeds, UK);
International Academy of Innovative Dentistry (Roma, Italia)

The professional outlets envisaged for those who have completed the second level specialising master in 'Laser Dentistry' are linked to the possibility, for those who have passed the course, of entering the world of work, in the dental sector, with the skills to use the various types of laser equipment and the right clinical knowledge of the sector.
