Programme Structure

The first year is aimed at providing conceptual and methodological models in the four areas of competence of the graduate degree programme:

  • Research and Innovation Area: methods of medical and social statistics, critical analysis of the literature, research methodology and evidence-based healthcare practice;
  • Nursing and Midwifery Area: theory and philosophy of nursing and midwifery sciences and bioethical and anthropological insights;
  • Organisation and Management Area: principles and methods of health economics and planning, in-depth study of administrative and labour law;
  • Training and Education Area: theoretical models of social psychology, group psychology, adult learning theories and tutorial methodologies. Internship experiences are planned aimed at the development of projects, consistent with the educational objectives of the degree programme.

The second year is aimed at applying and contextualising the theoretical models and methodologies learned in the four areas of expertise of the graduate degree and with specific reference to future work contexts:

  • Research and Innovation Area: analysis of studies of organisational, educational and clinical-professional research and training in the deduction of implications for practice;
  • Nursing and Midwifery Area: in-depth study of relevant care and midwifery processes in order to design innovative models with a strong impact on the  quality of care for users;
  • Organisation and Management Area: in-depth study of the strategies for the direction and management of professional and health services based on criteria of efficiency and effectiveness, human resources management, design of organisational integration tools and evaluation of the quality of services;
  • Training and Education Area: in-depth study of the design and management of basic and advanced training systems specific to the nursing and midwifery professions and continuing education activities . Internship experiences are planned aimed at the development of projects, consistent with the educational objectives of the degree programme.

During the study path there are activities for the deepening of the English language. The courses in the various academic disciplines are carried out, according to needs, with:

a) lectures to deepen the specific knowledge of the different disciplines;

b) theoretical-practical exercises to provide the graduate with a solid operational training and the ability to apply the different knowledge acquired;

c) laboratory and internship activities (carried out with at least 30 ECTS with the supervision and guidance of specially assigned professional tutors, coordinated by a professor/lecturer belonging to the highest level of training required for the profile) to provide the graduates with considerable practical preparation that puts them in a position to easily enter the world of work. The internship can be carried out at Faculty facilities, public and private health authorities, as well as through stays at other Italian or foreign universities, also within the framework of national and international agreements;

d) seminars for the in-depth study of particular themes of the various disciplines.
