The programme in a nutshell

A valuable figure in the medical field: scientific knowledge and human touch

An integrated six-year degree programme that allows students to acquire knowledge in the field of general and special care dentistry, in a path of professional and human growth for the student. The multidisciplinary approach develops fundamental skills in the field of disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and raises awareness among future dentists of the ethical and legal responsibilities of the profession.

Teaching methodology

In addition to the traditional teaching of frontal lectures, the degree programme leaves ample room for professional internships and supplementary laboratory activities.

And then? A dentist who is attentive to the patient's needs

After six years, students will obtain the Degree in Dentistry and will be able to work as a dentist in different areas, such as the clinical, health and bio-medical fields.

Presentation

The integrated degree programme is origanised in six years and ends with the graduation examination and the achievement of the Degree in Dentistry.

The degree programme also leaves ample room for professional internships and winds along the study of:

  • composition, structure and functioning of the human organism at an essential level;
  • mechanisms underlying diseases and their morpho-functional correlates;
  • methodologies of approach to the sick patient, both directly and through the use of the most appropriate and modern techniques and tools.

The next phase of the programme is dedicated to the therapeutic and rehabilitative approach through the use of the most up-to-date drugs, surgical techniques and therapeutic protocols.

Opportunities
This Faculty provides modern technical and scientific equipment, but above all it allows students to benefit from the close connection with the  Policlinico Universitario Fondazione A. Gemelli, a university hospital with over 1500 beds between admissions and day hospitals, capable of performing tens of thousands of services in the emergency room every year and more than 9 million total services and outpatient clinics: those who enrol at Università Cattolica thus have the unique opportunity not only to study medicine but also to 'live' it.

In addition to the more classic lectures - with professors of recognised international scientific level - there are internship activities, in-depth studies (conferences, seminars, ad hoc projects), computer and multimedia sessions, as well as specialised workshops.
