Presentation

The degree programme in Humanities provides a highly versatile professional profile in all sectors where strong critical, argumentative and discursive skills are required, particularly in the fields of teaching, publishing, conservation of cultural heritage, librarianship, archival studies, communication and entertainment.

Although it has professionalizing characteristics, it also prepares for the in-depth profiles of master's degrees, thus initiating scientific research, and introduces the profiles envisaged for teacher training.

Specific educational objectives, qualifying the degree course in Literature, are the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • possess a solid basic methodological and historical training in linguistic, philological and literary studies;
  • possess the essential knowledge of the literary, linguistic, historical, geographical and artistic culture of the ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary ages, with direct knowledge of original texts and documents;
  • be able to carry out professional tasks at various levels in public and private bodies in the fields of cultural services, journalism, publishing, cultural institutes of various kinds, as well as in libraries and archives, thus contributing to the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.

Graduates will be able to effectively use, in written and oral form, at least one modern language of the European Union, in addition to Italian, in the specific field of competence and for the exchange of general information, and will also be able to use the main IT and telematic communication tools.
