The main objective of the professional internship activity in the undergraduate degree programme in Nursing is to develop professional, relational and behavioural skills, diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking related to the professional profile, as well as a professional identity and a sense of belonging.
The professional internship is carried out under the guidance and supervision of clinical and educational tutors, coordinated by the Director of Professional Educational and Internship Activities, who assume responsibility for facilitating and optimising the learning process.

During the internship, the student is immersed in a work context characterised by a variability of situations in which he/she has the opportunity to test his/her professional skills with progressive assumption of responsibility.
At the end of each academic year, a committee, chaired by the Director of Professional Educational and Internship Activities and by professional educational and clinical tutors, evaluates and certifies the professional knowledge acquired by the student through the internship exam. This assessment is comprehensive and includes:

  • data on the student's internship experience, resulting from the evaluation forms filled in by the tutor(s) to whom the student is entrusted;
  • written papers and/or care plans on clinical cases;
  • the internship exam, which consists of a practical test with simulation of general nursing care settings for the evaluation of the clinical skills and technical-professional skills acquired by the student.
