What is an internship?

The Curricular Internship with ECTS is required by the educational system of the Integrated Degree Programme in Law, Law and Economics profile, of the Faculty of Economics and Law.

It consists of an educational and training activity, which the student does in the company. It does not constitute work in any way and is an integral part of the educational system of the degree programme for the achievement of the objectives indicated in the study plan.

Therefore, it must be approved as such by the Faculty Tutor before its beginning.

Early professional internship

In July 2017, the Integrated Degree Programme in Law signed two local agreements with the Piacenza Bar Association and the District Notarial Council of Piacenza, in implementation of as many national agreements, which allow the students of the programme to anticipate 6 of the 18 months of internship that the new graduate must compulsorily mature for access to the legal profession and the notary's office.

In addition, two further agreements were signed in July 2018 and July 2019 respectively with the Cremona Bar Association and theLodi Bar Association.

Students in the fifth year of the programme who, in addition to having passed all the exams of the previous years, have accrued ECTS in some specific disciplines (see agreements) are admitted to this form of early internship.

The stipulation of these agreements, of which the one between Università Cattolica of Piacenza and the District Notarial Council of Piacenza constitutes the first national implementation, reinforces the strong vocation of the Degree Programme in Law of the Piacenza Campus of Università Cattolica to interface with the world of work, allowing its students to acquire the theoretical skills and the practical-operational skills that will be required after graduation.

There are no particular constraints related to the interruption of the internship period. It is possible to interrupt it at any time, giving written reasons as long as the minimum duration of the internship to obtain credits is respected.

The participation allowance for the curricular internship is at the discretion of the host company.

Starting from September 2021, once all the requirements of the internship regulations have been completed and fulfilled, i.e. the internship tutor has collected the internship agenda, the company's evaluation questionnaire and Annex 8 (the professor/lecturer's evaluation of the internship report), the internship must be recorded in the same way as the exams, by regularly registering for the exams on the established dates. Please note:

  • The recording will not require physical presence, it is only mandatory to register for the exam call within 4 days from the scheduled date;
  • No summons (Teams or other) will be sent;
  • The attribution of the ECTS of the internship is displayed in the career area.
