Internships

1) CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP

The Degree Programme in Cultural Heritage provides in the 3rd year for the Archaeological, Historical and Artistic and Preservation and management of historical and cultural memories 3 optional ECTS for internship and internship activities. The internship experience is an opportunity to measure oneself against the world of work in the field of cultural professions. The internship activity has a minimum duration of 75 hours (two weeks full time).

2) TYPES OF CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

The 3 ECTS for the curricular internship activities of the Degree Programme in Cultural Heritage can be acquired by students in the following ways:

(A) Internships proposed by companies and available on the step.unicatt.it platform or reported to students by the tutor of the Degree Programme (proposed internship)

(B) Internships proposed by the student (self-proposed internship), based on personal contacts with the institution or company.

The following will NOT be recognised as valid for the purposes of the recognition of the 3 ECTS:

  • all those professional activities carried out within institutions or companies in which people related to the candidate with any degree of kinship are employed;
  • any internship activity that has already produced ECTS in other courses (e.g. workshops);
  • all internships activated as "curricular with zero ECTS".

Students of the Archaeological profile who during the course of study have carried out excavation activities organized by the university or promoted by individual teachers for a minimum duration of 75 hours, can request validation for the purpose of recognition of the 3 ECTS of internship by submitting appropriate documentation to the internship tutor. Please note that any archaeological excavation activities promoted by entities other than the university and configurable as internship activities must follow the activation procedures described below in point 3.

Information on internship proposals and any training meetings will be sent by email to the internship tutor. It is therefore advisable to consult your institutional iCatt e-mail address regularly.

3) THE ACTIVATION OF CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

The curricular internship of types A and B (see point 2) must be activated on step.unicatt.it as a curricular internship with ECTS. The procedure is explained in detail at the following link: https://sep.unicatt.it/sep-servizi-per-studenti-e-laureati-info-stage#content.

4) THE INTERRUPTION OF THE CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP

Those who have serious and justified needs to interrupt the internship must have their company contact contact the Internship and Placement Office (patrizia.carnelli@unicatt.it) with a copy of the internship tutor (silvio.mara@unicatt.it), specifying the reasons for the interruption. The internship tutor will assess whether to recognize the internship ECTS in relation to the hours worked.

5) THE EXTENSION OF THE CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP

Students can extend the internship activity in the form of the "zero ECTS curricular" internship. At the end of the training project with ECTS, the student must contact the Internship and Placement Office and request the activation of a new training project without ECTS.

6) RECOGNITION OF THE CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP (with ECTS)

For type A and B internships, which provide, as written, for the registration of the company and the internship through step.unicatt.it, the recognition will follow the following path:

  • Starting from the date of the end of the internship, the company will be invited (by communication from the Internship & Placement Office) to fill in an online form on page step.unicatt.it;
  • the company will be able to access the platform using the same credentials provided during registration and used to start the internship;
  • In the "Internships and Traineeships" box, the company contact person must click on the "Consult internship history" button, select the name of the intern and click on "Evaluate project";
  • the company can fill in the questionnaire from 5 days before the end of the internship to 30 days after the end of the internship;
  • Only upon a positive evaluation by the company, the tutor will be able to proceed with the recognition of the internship and the related training ECTS;
  • If, after 30 days from the end of the internship, the company has not completed the questionnaire, the tutor will contact the company contact person indicated in the training project, sending him the evaluation questionnaire.

This questionnaire must then be returned to the Internship and Placement Office, which will upload it manually to the portal;

  • At the end of the internship, the student-trainee is required to deliver a report on the activity carried out, to be delivered manually or by sending it to the silvio.mara@unicatt.it address. The following points should be taken into account when drawing up the short report:
    1. Brief description of the company, institution or institution where the curricular internship took place.
    2. Description of the division/sector in which the curricular internship took place.
    3. Identification of the tasks performed and the skills (professional and relational) that have been acquired during the curricular internship.
    4. Summary evaluation of the meaning and experience of the internship in relation to the training course carried out in the degree programme.

    Students are advised that for the validation of the internship carried out and for the accreditation of the corresponding ECTS, they must proceed with the same method of recording the exams. Therefore, students are required to register for exam sessions on the established dates. The lecturer in charge of recording the internships in Cultural Heritage is Prof. Sacchi Furio. The dates of the recording are published on the teacher's page.

    The presence of the student during the roll call is not required

    7) INTERNSHIP ABROAD

    Students are allowed to carry out their internship period abroad. Students can take advantage of the advice of the International Relations Office.

    The procedures for activating the internship and recognising the activity carried out are the same as those illustrated in point 2 et seq.
