The programme at a glance

The degree programme in Speech and Language Therapy provides graduates with the skills required by the specific professional profile of Speech and Language Therapist (Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Health 14 September 1994, n.742 and subsequent amendments and additions).

Graduates in Speech and Language Therapy are health professionals, pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Health 14 September 1994, n. 742, who carry out their activity in the prevention and rehabilitation treatment of speech and communication pathologies in developmental, adult and geriatric age.

The activity of graduates in Speech and Language Therapy is aimed at the education and re-education of all pathologies that cause voice, speech, oral and written language disorders and communication disabilities.

With reference to the diagnosis and prescription of the doctor, within the scope of their competences, they elaborate, also within a multidisciplinary team, the Speech and Language Therapy balance aimed at identifying and overcoming the health needs of the disabled person; autonomously practice therapeutic activities for the functional re-education of communicative and cognitive disabilities, as well as oral functions in general, using Speech and Language Therapy techniques for the enablement and rehabilitation of verbal and non-verbal communication and language; propose the adoption of assistive devices, train them in their use and verify their effectiveness; carry out study, teaching and professional consultancy activities, in health services and in those where their professional skills are required; verify the compliance of the rehabilitation methodology implemented with the objectives of functional recovery.
