What is the internship
The internship represents a key to access the world of work with which you can experience "in the field" the notions learned and evaluate the real motivation with respect to a professional role. It represents an opportunity for professional and personal growth to complete and improve one's curriculum, complementary to the classroom learning process and individual study.
It is, therefore, a period of experimentation that allows the student to verify the connection between the knowledge acquired at the university and its application within individual organizations.

Internship Specific Details
- Duration: The period is between two and three months (between 160 and 320 hours).
- Compulsory/non-compulsory nature of the internship:
In the study plan of the second year of the LM of European and International Politics, the student is required to choose between a curricular internship or other activities deemed suitable by the Faculty, in the form of a workshop proposed by the Faculty, a work activity, an extension of an experience abroad. For the recognition of the internship, within one month after the end of the internship, the student is required to send the following documents by e-mail to the internship tutor: - report written by the student about the experience
- evaluation form filled in by the company tutor
Internship activation procedure
To activate the curricular internship with ECTS, it is necessary to access http://step.unicatt.it/
Before starting the internship, the student must explain to the internship tutor the timing, methods, contents and tasks of the internship. Once you have received confirmation from the Tutor, you will be able to start the activation procedure.

As an alternative to the internship, the student can include in the study plan a 3 ECTS activity, proposed by the Faculty. Of particular note are:
- the teaching of "Public Policies for Internationalization" by Prof. Roberto Calugi
- the "Political Marketing Workshop" by Prof. Alessandro Amadori
- the "Workshop on intervention techniques in emergency situations, by Prof. Elena Tarantino
Please note: the above-mentioned training activities can be chosen by the student as alternative activities to the internship only if the student has not already included them in the study plan, for example as an elective activity.
FAQ
Who should I contact to obtain ECTS?
It is necessary to contact your university internship tutor who, once the necessary documents have been obtained, will start the process of recognition of ECTS.
Is it possible to do an internship abroad?
Yes, it is possible to carry out an internship abroad. The administrative management of internships abroad is the responsibility of the International Development Area, wea@unicatt.it, while the internship tutor remains the reference for the recognition of ECTS.
Is there a financial recognition (allowance) for the curricular internship?
The allowance is at the discretion of the host institution.
Is it possible to interrupt the internship?
The host may request the interruption of the internship in the appropriate section on the step.unicatt.it portal . Since this is a curricular internship with ECTS, in the event of interruption it is necessary to promptly notify the university tutor
Is it possible to change the duration of a curricular internship?
Yes, the internship can be extended by sending the extension request via the step.unicatt.it portal. If you intend to renew it for a longer period, you must include a new training project (curricular internship with zero ECTS).
Is a part-time internship possible?
Yes, the procedures are agreed with the host institution, as long as the number of hours provided for by the Faculty regulations is reached.
Is it possible to replace the internship with a foreign language course?
No, foreign language courses are not a valid alternative to internships.
Is it possible to activate more than one internship?
Yes. As long as you are a student, you can activate more than one curricular internship but only one will be considered suitable for obtaining the 3 ECTS.
