Internship
The internship plays a significant role in the degree process. The internship consists of an experience in which the student offers his/her collaboration to a service, an organisation or a community in order to conceive, organise and implement a participatory intervention project that can focus on the implementation of social work or social social research activities at the level of fieldwork practice or management.
The internship involves the internal and external supervision of registered social workers. Internal supervision is carried out by social workers in charge of supplementary teaching assignments who accompany students in the design and implementation of the internship through individual and group supervision meetings. The figure of the internal tutor has adequate resources in terms of hours of classroom activities and tutoring that allow a very advantageous student-tutor relationship, also through the division of the entire class group into small groups. Given the nature of the programme and the internship activity, the internal tutor is always a registered social worker with many years of experience working in the world of welfare services, in possession or in the process of achieving the title of PhD with a doctoral thesis in social work. External supervision involves the collaboration of registered social workers active in public bodies and administrations, companies and private and/or private social entities in which the professional social service is present, as well as in professional social work firms. Given the nature of the internship, the presence of an external social worker is functional to ensure supervision of the student and the intervention or social research project that develops with a view to participatory construction.
