In a world where technology permeates every aspect of life, medicine has the opportunity to evolve to reach new frontiers. A new integrated five-year/six-year degree programme that, by integrating medicine and engineering, trains future physician-innovators able to face the revolutionary challenges of today and tomorrow in clinical medicine and research.
The combination of medicine and engineering in a rigorous and current human-centered medical and technological curriculum uniquely qualifies Medtec graduates to become proactive participants in the development of medical technologies. Specific integrated courses support cross-fertilization between medicine and engineering.

A visionary alliance between Medicine and Engineering

 

Medtec, the joint graduate degree programme for the interdisciplinary nature of knowledge

The Degree Programme in Medicine and Surgery - Technologically Oriented (Medtec) of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is established on the Rome campus in collaboration with the Department of Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DIIEM) of Roma Tre University.

Medtec trains doctors with solid knowledge in the fields of biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics and nanomaterials, fundamental skills to explore the new frontiers of technological medicine and the medical profession of the future.

Students who graduate in this programme receive, in addition to the integrated five-year/six-year degree programme in Medicine and Surgery directly qualifying for the profession of physician-surgeon, credits that allow them to obtain at the end of the programme, also the undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering of the Roma Tre University, thanks to 30 additional ECTS that enhance the skills acquired.
