What is an Internship

The training and orientation internship is a training practice in organizational structures (institutions, companies, etc.) that offers learners the opportunity for a first approach to the world of work in view of future employment choices. The University evaluates the activities of the period of stay in the company as a complement to the classroom learning process and individual study.

Internships Commission of the Faculty of Economics:

  • Accounting: Profs. Irene Lisi and Elisa Raoli
  • Banking & Finance: Prof. Mariarosa Borroni

The project internship (curricular internship with credits) is included among the applied knowledge indicated in the Faculty Guide and is chosen by the student.
How to log in
Students who wish to opt for the project internship can choose it as an alternative to the computer lab and the advanced English language course, by submitting a specific application available on the I-catt website. The conditions for submitting the application are the achievement of at least 48 credits or 72 credits in relation to the deadline for the submission of internship applications. In October and April of each academic year, the Internship Committee draws up, with the collaboration of the Offices, a list of candidates who meet the requirements for the activation of the project internship.
When to Apply
For each academic year, the deadline for submitting applications for project internships is set:

  • by 30 September for those who have acquired at least 48 ECTS
  • by 31 March for those who have acquired at least 72 ECTS

In May of each academic year, students will be invited to a meeting to present the course related to the project internship.
All students will be able to access the Blackboard "Project Internships" page automatically in May of the first year.
For more information, please consult the materials available on the course page on Blackboard.

The activation of the internship follows the process of the STEP platform that you can find at the following link. The project internship requires the approval of the area reference professor, which will take place through the university tutor. Within the platform, one tutor must be indicated among the three indicated in point 2, not the reference teacher of the area.
The reference office for the activation procedures is the Internship & Placement Service (stage-mi@unicatt.it)

Project and target group

The Digital Internship (SD), created in partnership between the Faculty of Economics of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) and Guilds42 (a platform that offers 250 MOOC certification courses on the digital theme – website: https:/www.guilds42.com/) offers students the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to use the main tools adopted by companies in the digital field (e.g. Google Ads, Salesforce, Shopify, Hubspot, SEO) and to apply them by creating a project for a company in the sector.

The SD, corresponding to 8 ECTS, is aimed at Graduate degree students who have obtained at least 48 ECTS by the beginning of the SD (March 2025).

The SD consists of two parts:

  • Digital Certification Path, aimed at enabling students to achieve a coherent cluster of digital skills: Shopify, Hubspot, Google, Youtube, Microsoft, Amazon, Linkedin, Semrush, Tableau, Elemental, Combinator, Kaggle.
  • Workshop Path, which consists of a project at a company to be carried out in groups of 5-6 members

Duration

The SD has a minimum duration of 3 months. The minimum 12 weeks are divided as follows:

  • 4 weeks for the first UC Certification Cluster
  • 8 weeks for the Bottega and the second UC Certification Cluster
  • The minimum training hours (Cluster 1 + Cluster 2) will be about 250-300.

  • Student selection and admission: December 2024
  • Check out: Second semester A.Y. 2024-2025 (March 2025)

Evaluation

The overall evaluation, expressed in thirtieths, will examine the results obtained by the student between the Certification path and the Bottega path, as well as the consistency of the path followed and the commitment made by the student. The UC Coordinator will be assisted by the Guilds42 contact person, who will issue a standard evaluation for each student, divided into two levels:

  • Individual evaluation of the overall Certification Pathway (in both phases of the SD). It is automatically calculated by the Dashboard system through the Course Score metric;
  • Individual evaluation of the work carried out by the students in the Workshop Path, which is carried out by the project referent.
