Alumni testimonials

The testimonies of some former students of the profile in Consulting and governance, who document paths, outlets and lived experiences.

By Andrea Perotti:

"I chose the Consulting and governance profile, after having already completed my undergraduate degree in Management and Freelance Profession at the Piacenza campus, because already during the undergraduate degree period I noticed a particular propensity for legal subjects, in particular commercial law and tax law. Given these assumptions, it was easy to choose among the very few universities that offer an economics programme with a strong imbalance on the regulatory component, having it so close to home.

Certainly, the advantages over competitors are varied, but in my experience, the small size of the campus and the great professionalism of the professors/lecturers allow for constant and dense interaction. Added to this is the network that an international university such as Unicatt allows to enter. Not infrequently, the lessons are developed through the intervention of professionals of primary standing with whom, following the meetings, it is possible to dialogue and create an exchange. Finally, the peculiarity of the programme and the opportunities for growth such as the "MyMentor" project allow us to keep a close eye on the opportunities that the profession offers in the present and in the future, facilitating access."

The programme in "Consulting and governance" was a springboard into the world of excellence in tax law. The completeness of the programme, the propensity for in-depth study required and the method acquired have given me the opportunity to join one of the most prestigious tax law firms on the Italian scene with which I have been collaborating for the past four years.

The graduate degree programme in "Consulting and governance" made me acquire the necessary technical knowledge (a "toolbox") for the purpose of entering the professional world, thanks to the high quality of the teaching staff, the teachings offered and the additional training activities (such as conferences, stay abroad for meetings and specialisation courses) that enrich and make the educational offer unique.

During the last year of my graduate degree programme in "Consulting and governance" I did a three-month internship in Brussels, at the European Commission. It was a very valuable experience, in which I had the opportunity to deepen my interest in VAT and to participate in the complex and articulated activity carried out within the European institutions.

I did my internship at the IBFD (International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the most important research center in the field of international tax law in Europe. I never came back! I am currently living and working in Amsterdam, as a Researcher Associate at IBFD, holding the position of Country Specialist for Italy and Assistant Editor of the journal Private and Corporate Investment Income.

The professional profile in "Consulting and governance" was the spark that rekindled the enthusiasm that had faded during the undergraduate degree period. When I started working in an associated professional firm in Milan, I immediately realized that, compared to my peers, I had a much more in-depth preparation for the exercise of the professional activity.

THE FULL OPINION

At the beginning of the second year of my graduate degree, I did an internship at one of the leading Italian law firms, which then resulted in a stable collaboration that has now lasted for almost five years. I remember that, during the interview, it was highly appreciated that the profile in "Consulting and governance" offered specific teachings in relation to the main areas of tax law, with in-depth studies both in relation to national and international law.
