How many and what types of internships are there?

There are 3 types of internships:

1. curricular internship, optional, without credits
2. curricular internship with credits that becomes mandatory when it is included by the student in their study plan
3. Extracurricular internships for graduates. This type can be activated through Università Cattolica within 12 months from the date of graduation.

I started a curricular internship with ECTS, but for personal reasons I would like to interrupt it before the end. Can I do that?

There are no particular constraints related to the interruption of the internship period. It is possible to interrupt it at any time, giving a written reason as long as the minimum duration (200 hours) of the internship to obtain the training credits is respected.

Is there a participation allowance for the curricular internship? 

The participation allowance for the curricular internship is at the discretion of the host company, it being understood that – as provided for by current law – it is not in any case obliged to pay.

How are the ECTS credits of the internship activities recorded? 

Once all the requirements of the internship regulations have been completed and fulfilled – i.e. collection by the internship tutor of the internship agenda, the company's evaluation questionnaire and the student's final evaluation questionnaire – the ECTS must be recorded in the same way as the exams, taking regular registration for the exams on the established dates.

• The recording will not require physical presence, it is only mandatory to register for the roll call within 4 days from the scheduled date;
• No summons (Teams or other) will be sent;
• The attribution of the ECTS of the internship is displayed in the career.

Can I carry out an internship in a company of my choice or do I necessarily have to draw on the list of positions offered by the University?

It is also possible to carry out the internship in a company of your choice, in this case it will only be necessary to activate an agreement between the company and UCSC

Do I have to wait until the end of the internship to register my ECTS or is it possible to register them earlier?

It is also possible to record ECTS before the end of the internship, as long as 200 hours of activity have been carried out

Can the internship last more than 200 hours?

The internship can last more than 200 hours (minimum deadline for obtaining the ECTS) and the registration of the ECTS will be possible already upon the achievement of the first 200 hours of work carried out

If I have not included the internship with ECTS in the Study Plan and I change my mind, is it possible to include it later?

No, it is not possible

Can I write my thesis on the activity carried out in the internship with ECTS?

It is possible to write the thesis both on the activity carried out in the internship with ECTS and also on the internship without ECTS. In all cases, however, subject to the consent of both the Supervisor and the host company.
