Practical Training Evaluation booklet

In accordance with the provisions of Article 3 of Ministerial Decree no. 58 of 9 May 2018, the study plan provides for Practical Evaluation Internship (TPV) activities valid for the purposes of qualifying to practice the profession of physician-surgeon for 15 ECTS. These activities have as their main objective the assessment of the student's skills related to "know-how" and "knowing how to be medical", which consist in the application of biomedical and clinical knowledge to medical practice, in the solution of questions of professional ethics and medical ethics, in the demonstration of the aptitude to solve clinical problems related to the areas of medicine and surgery and related specialties, laboratory and instrumental diagnostics and public health.

The TPV takes place, starting from the fifth year of the programme, for a number of hours corresponding to 5 ECTS for each month and is divided into one month in the Surgical Area, one month in the Medical Area and one month in the field of General Medicine. The TPV in the Medical Area and in the Surgical Area takes place at the Operating Units and Services of the "Agostino Gemelli" University Hospital Foundation IRCCS indicated in Annex B of the Didactic Regulations of the CdS. The TPV in the field of General Medicine takes place during the sixth year of the programme at the clinic of a General Practitioner having the requirements set forth in Article 27, paragraph 3, of Legislative Decree no. 368 of 17 August 1999, on the basis of the agreement stipulated between the University and the Provincial Professional Order of Doctors and Surgeons competent for the territory.

The certification of attendance and the evaluation of the aforementioned monthly TPV payments take place under the direct responsibility and by the teacher or the medical director, responsible for the structure attended by the intern, and the General Practitioner who issue, each for the part of their respective competence, formal certification of attendance, together with the evaluation of the results relating to the skills demonstrated. At the end of each period, the coordinating Tutor, identified by the Degree Programme Committee for each Area/Sector of TPV, expresses, in the event of a positive evaluation, a judgment of suitability.
The TPV is exceeded only in the event of the achievement of the assessment of suitability for each of the aforementioned three months' salary.

The specific skills acquired in each Area/Scope of TPV are indicated in the trainee evaluation booklet that is delivered at the beginning of the first TPV period and that the student and the Division Tutors and coordinators are required to fill in for the parts of their respective competence. The student is required to keep the aforementioned booklet until graduation, which is a title to demonstrate the acquisition of the qualification and to obtain registration with the Professional Association.
