Register for the test

Participation in the test is subject to the completion of the online registration procedure, the booking of the chosen session(s) and the payment of the participation fee of € 250.00 through the PayPal circuit accessible only from the registration platform.

It is possible to take up to two tests. In fact, there will be two test sessions according to the following schedule:

FIRST ROUND: from 29 FEBRUARY to 2 MARCH 2024;

SECOND ROUND: from 18 to 20 APRIL 2024.

Those who, in the manner set forth in art. 3 of the competition notice, apply from 18 December 2023 and until 14 February 2024 will be able to participate in both rounds of the test.

Those who apply from 4 March 2024 and no later than 4 April 2024 will only be able to participate in the test round from 18 to 20 April 2024.

The final merit list of each integrated degree programme will be drawn up according to the criteria set out in art. 8 of the call for applications, always preserving the choice of the degree programme or the order of preference expressed during enrolment (first and possible second choice) and then the best score obtained in the tests taken, if more than one, or in the only test held.

You can participate if:

  • in possession of an Italian or foreign diploma;
  • enrolled in the last year of secondary school in Italy or abroad, provided that the high school diploma is obtained by 31 July 2024.

Students enrolled in the PENULTIMATE year of high school can NOT take the test or "keep" their score for admission to the 2025/26 academic year.

The admission tests will be delivered in computer-based multi-session mode in presence at qualified test centers in the cities of Rome, Milan, Naples, Bari, Reggio Calabria, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari.

Places at each venue/exam session are allocated on a filling basis, taking into consideration only registrations completed according to the criteria expressed in art. 3 of the competition notice.

The general list of convocations, indicating the location, date and time of the test of each candidate, for the aforementioned examination rounds will be published respectively:

  • From 21 February 2024 for the round from 29 February to 2 March 2024;
  • From 11 April 2024 for the round from 18 to 20 April 2024.

If, due to contingencies or for organizational reasons, it is necessary to make changes to the calendar of the admission test or to the methods of administering the test, all those registered for the test will be notified by means of notices on this page.

Carry out the online registration procedure and from the Test Registration Summary page click on "Make payment and booking". You will be able to choose the VENUE and the TEST SESSION from the list proposed by the University until availability for each venue/session is exhausted.

Once you have selected your choice of venue/session for each reference session, you will have to pay the participation fee of € 250.00.

PLEASE NOTE: Payment must be made within 60 minutes of booking:

  • if the payment is NOT made within the 60 minutes provided, the seat reservation will be cancelled and the candidate, if interested in taking the test, will have to repeat the booking operation - choosing from the sessions available at the time of accessing the platform - and always pay within 60 minutes;
  • Once the payment has been made, you will receive an e-mail confirming your booking and payment of the fee. Only then will the procedure have been successfully concluded.

Information regarding registration for the test and payment is always available in the candidate's reserved area under the "Log" menu item of the portal and is the only official source for confirmation of registration and the choices expressed by the candidate (round, location, date, time and payment).

Any change of venue/session must be carried out directly by the candidate by switching back on the booking platform. The request for a change of venue/session is allowed only within the registration deadlines of each round (i.e. by 14 February 2024 for the round from 29 February to 2 March 2024 and by 4 April 2024 for the round from 18 to 20 April 2024).

After this deadline, no change of venue and/or session will be permitted.

It is possible to apply for only one or both integrated degree programmes, indicating, if applicable, the order of preference (first choice and second choice). The order of preference, if expressed, is binding for the purposes of drawing up the final rankings of the two degree programmes.

The degree programme to apply for or the order of reference expressed can be changed before the deadline for submitting applications for the first round in which the candidate has enrolled (i.e. by 14 February if you have registered for both test rounds or by 4 April if you have registered exclusively for the second round of the test). In any case, if the candidate has already taken the test in the first round, he/she may NOT change degree programme or order of preference for the second round of the test.

Each ranking will be drawn up taking into account

  1. first of all, the choice of degree programme or the order of preference, where expressed;
  2. secondly , the best score obtained in the written test.

Therefore, each ranking list will be composed first of all of the candidates who have indicated the degree programme as their "first" or "only" choice, respectively ordered on the basis of merit, then of the candidates who have indicated the degree programme as their possible "second" choice respectively ordered on the basis of merit.

The candidate who is "admitted" to the programme of the best preference (first choice) will automatically be cancelled from the ranking position in the degree programme of the worst preference (second choice).

On the contrary, if you are "admitted" to a programme of worse preference (i.e. to the second choice programme, where indicated) you will always maintain your position in the ranking in the programme of the best preference (first and choice).

For further details on the preparation of the rankings, please consult the competition notice.

The admission test consists of a written test of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions, which present five answer options, among which the candidate must identify one only by discarding the erroneous, arbitrary or less probable conclusions, distributed as follows:

  • 32 logical and logical-mathematical reasoning questions;
  • 20 questions on scientific culture (10 on chemistry and 10 on biology);
  • 3 general knowledge questions
  • 5 questions of ethical-religious culture

A maximum time of 60 minutes is allocated for the test. A maximum score of 60 (sixty) points is awarded for the evaluation of the test according to the following criteria:

  • 1 point for each correct answer
  • minus 0.25 points for each incorrect answer
  • 0 points for each answer not given (omitted)

In consideration of the need to carry out several exam sessions and in order to preserve par condicio, transparency, impartiality and the smooth running of the selection, separate exams will be prepared for each session in compliance with the criteria of balancing the various types of questions. At the end of the test (whether it coincides with the expiry of the maximum time or early voluntary closure) each candidate must answer an additional 6 questions in 6 minutes automatically assigned by the test platform (one for each subject).

These so-called "reserve" questions will NOT count towards the ordinary assessment of the test unless, after the scheduled sessions have been held, an anomaly emerges in one or more questions such as to lead to its annulment. Only in this case, once the criticality has been ascertained, will the University consider neutralising it and replacing the question with the reserve question relating to the same subject, in order to guarantee the objectivity of the assessments and equal treatment of candidates.

Once you have paid the entrance fee, you will have free and unlimited access to the online simulation platform made available by the University. On the summary page you will find the link to the simulation platform (you will not receive the link by email but you will have to re-log to your subscription profile).

Subsequently, from 1 to 26 July 2024, they will have to enrol remotely, accessible from their profile in the online registration system, and upload the required documentation as specified in art. 11 of the competition notice.

Candidates who have not complied within the deadlines indicated above will be considered to have withdrawn and the places that are vacant will be made available to the other candidates by scrolling through the merit list.

Once enrolled, how can I opt out? Will I be able to be reimbursed for the fee paid?

Using the "Forms" section on the institutional portal of the Rome Campus (https://studenticattolica.unicatt.it/strumenti-e-supporto-modulistica - Application for withdrawal from studies), students must access their enrolment profile and follow the online procedure until the appropriate forms have been completed.

Once the withdrawal has been made, the amount paid for the place reservation will be fully refunded if requested to do so within 14 days from the date of payment. After this deadline, no refund will be made.

If I take part in the Medicine-Dentistry test at Università Cattolica, can I also take the other admission tests, including those of the state schools?

Yes, there is no obstacle to taking several admission tests, even in other universities. However, it is necessary to respect the admission procedures and deadlines provided for each selection.

What is the best manual to prepare for the test?

Università Cattolica does not have or recommend a specific manual for preparing for its admission tests.

Once the registration for the competition has been completed, it will be possible to practice free of charge and unlimited with the exam simulator made available by UC which uses the archive of quizzes proposed in previous years. For optimal preparation, it is also advisable to enrol in courses specially organised by Università Cattolica.

What are the best test prep tools?

The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore organises specific preparation courses for the admission tests for the A.Y. 2024/25 of Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Medicine and Surgery.

It is possible to choose between different types of courses (reinforcing, intensive and modular) able to meet the different needs of each candidate. The places available in each course are limited and allocated according to the chronological criterion of enrolment.

For more information, please refer to the section "Preparation courses for the admission test" on the web page of the programme of interest.
