The integrated five-year/six-year degree programme in Medicine and Surgery provides a total of 360 university credits (ECTS), divided into six years of programme, of which at least 60 are to be acquired in training activities aimed at developing specific professional skills.
The programme is organized in 12 semesters and 36 integrated courses, which are assigned ECTS by the Degree Programme Committee in compliance with the provisions of the table of essential training activities.
The distribution of the total hourly commitment for each ECTS between assisted teaching and individual study is determined as follows:

  • 1 ECTS lesson: 12.5 hours of lectures + 12.5 hours of individual study
  • 1 ECTS theoretical-practical activities: 12.5 hours of assisted teaching + 12.5 hours of individual study or 20 hours of assisted study within the teaching structure + 5 hours of individual study
  • 1 ECTS practical-evaluation internship valid for the purpose of qualifying to practice the profession of physician-surgeon (TPV): 20 hours of assisted teaching + 5 hours of individual study
  • 1 ECTS activity chosen by the student: 21 hours of lectures + 4 hours of individual study
  • 1 ECTS professional activity: 25 hours of lectures
  • 1 ECTS final exam: 23 hours of individual study

The total commitment required of the student is at least 5,507 hours, in accordance with the provisions of Directive 2013/55/EU on basic medical training.
The number of exams, which do not exceed 36, is scheduled during periods when face-to-face teaching activities are interrupted. The exam, successfully passed, entitles the student to the acquisition of the corresponding ECTS.
The structure of the integrated courses in the semesters, the relative ECTS, the core curriculum, the specific educational objectives of each integrated course and the type of exams are determined by the Degree Programme Committee and reported in the Didactic Regulations of the study programme and in the Student Guide.
